In recent years, rubber wood has emerged as an alternative source of timber in India.Since it is obtained from sustainably managed plantations, it has high environmental acceptability both in domestic and international markets. Processed rubber wood can be used in a wide range of applications such as furniture, panelling, table top, flooring, household articles etc.

At present there are 48 units in the country for the processing of rubber wood and some are exporting.
